On 6 November 2025, the British Council coordinated the largest student mobility event to the United Kingdom ever taken place in Mexico.
Delivered in partnership with UNAM, the largest public Higher Education institution in Mexico, this free-access event gathered 45 representatives of British universities that shared insights to students and faculty about programmes, scholarships and exchange opportunities to the United Kingdom.
At the inauguration, Darren Coyle, the British Council’s Country Director to Mexico, acknowledged the opportunity to use this space to promote internationalisation for inclusion and highlighted the contributions of UNAM’s graduates that have earned a Higher Education qualification in the UK to the development of Mexico.
Dr Leonardo Lomelí, UNAM’s Principal, acknowledged the contribution of internationalisation with the UK for the enhancement of plurality and openness in Higher Education, enabling learning experiences with global insight for new generations.
At this event participated over 2000 students and faculty from Mexico, more than 200 alumni from Mexico that have earned one Higher Education certification from the UK, senior leadership from UNAM and representatives of the UK Embassy in Mexico.
